As the Songkran 2026 festival approaches, the Association of Thai Airlines (AAT) and the CAAT are coordinating a national operation to meet the high demand. From 13 to 15 April, six airlines are offering up to 30% reductions on the fare ceiling for domestic flights and adding extra seats, with a particular focus on Koh Samui.
Every year, Songkran transforms Thailand into a massive festive water battle and causes domestic flight demand to explode. For 2026, the authorities and airlines have anticipated this: six major players – Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet Air and Thai Airways – have been mobilised to lower prices and increase capacity. The objective is clear: to avoid a surge in fares and allow the maximum number of travellers to reach their dream destination this year.

Among them, Bangkok Airways stands out particularly for lovers of Koh Samui. The airline is adding no fewer than 24 extra flights on the Bangkok-Koh Samui route, that's 1,680 additional seats. Even better, its promotion includes up to 30% off, 20 kg baggage included, an onboard meal and lounge access. Enough to make the trip to the island even more enjoyable.

Thai AirAsia leads in the volume of seats added, with around 10,000 extra seats across the entire domestic network. The other airlines – Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet Air and Thai Airways – are in turn strengthening links to Surat Thani, a convenient gateway to Koh Samui and the south of the country.
Prices are rising fast and you need to book now to take advantage of the promotional offers before they disappear.
