A man accidentally shot his four-month-pregnant partner, the bullet perforating her eye socket during a jealous quarrel in Bophut on Koh Samui island. The victim is in a critical condition.
On 31 March 2026, Sub-Lieutenant Suphakit Janmuang, deputy head of the investigation division at Bophut police station in Koh Samui, was alerted to a shooting in an alley opposite the shopping centre Lotus’s Samui in Chaweng.
Accompanied by Lieutenant-Colonel Anumati Ruenphanich and a team of investigators, he went to the scene: a house under construction in moo 6 of Bophut. The victim, Ms Sutthara, 31, from Bangkok and four months pregnant, had already been taken to Koh Samui Hospital by passers-by.
She has a serious injury: the bullet penetrated her eye socket, leaving her in a critical condition. Her partner, Mr Wisut, nicknamed “Bank”, 31, from Krabi, had fled after the incident.
The police found abundant bloodstains on the bedroom bed. After two hours of searching, the investigators apprehended Wisut near the scene. They seized a short-barrelled .357 revolver containing six cartridges, one of which had been fired.

“I live with Sutthara, who is four months pregnant with our first child. Before the incident, I was coming home on my motorbike and we had a violent row. She accused me of sleeping with another woman. Exasperated, I pulled out my gun, pointed it at my head and threatened to kill myself. But she tried to grab it from me, the gun went off, the bullet hit her in the face near the eye. Panicked, I fled. I deeply regret it; I didn’t mean for this to happen. I pray for her and the baby.”

Wisut fully confessed to the facts during his interrogation at Bophut police station. The investigators took gunpowder residue from his hands for ballistic examination.
He is charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm. The investigation continues.
