Lamai residents are expressing their frustration after the noisy opening of Fit-Club, a new nightclub owned by Tinnakorn Poolsawad, brother of Koh Samui's deputy mayor.
The Fit-Club nightclub (“Forest In Town”) located right in the centre of Lamai opened its doors on 10 April 2026. From the very first evening, many locals voiced their dissatisfaction over the excessive noise levels that severely disrupted the neighbourhood all night long. Several cosy hotels are indeed situated in the immediate vicinity of the venue.
In a message posted on a local Facebook group, the owner Tinnakorn Poolsawad offers his apologies while promising to better control the noise in future:
“We offer our sincere apologies to all Lamai residents and surrounding businesses. During the grand opening of Fit-Club (Forest In Town) on the night of 10 April, the sound was far too loud. We apologise and hope you will forgive us. The club will now control the volume as best it can and ensure it does not happen again. Thank you very much to everyone.”

Tinnakorn Poolsawad, also known by the nickname “Korn” and who describes himself as a “fearless Chao Pho”, owns several nightclubs on Koh Samui. One of them was destroyed by a fire due to the lack of fire extinguishers, causing the death of one person burned alive. Another, the “Sound Club”, which had become a venue for hard drug consumption (ice and yaba), was closed by the military authorities of Surat Thani before quietly reopening after the return to civilian rule.
He is also accused of causing significant environmental damage after the closure of a beach establishment in Chaweng Noi, where toxic residues continue to leak into the sea.

More recently, he publicly showed his support for the elected candidate in the recent legislative elections in the 2nd district of Surat Thani (Koh Samui), a poll tainted by numerous accusations of vote-buying.
Unlike establishments run by foreigners, local authorities have never seriously inspected those managed by this man, particularly in terms of hygiene and safety. Even local media, described as “pirates”, seem reluctant, or even utterly terrified, to broach the “Poolsawad” topic; this is understandable given the owner's closeness to local power. Tinnakorn is indeed the brother of Koh Samui's deputy mayor: he represents the island's fun party side while his brother works behind the scenes and appears very rarely in public. This proximity to local, regional and -perhaps- even higher authorities makes any investigation into this clan's activities potentially tricky for locals journalists.

“Korn”, although approached, has never wished to answer our questions…
Reminder to local residents: pack some earplugs and, above all, a fire extinguisher as your safety should not depend solely on luck.
