In Bangkok, a Frenchman stabbed a police officer before being shot and arrested with the help of citizens in the Suan Luang district.
The incident occurred around 4:30 pm this Friday, in front of a condominium located at Soi Phatthanakan 54, in the Suan Luang district, in Bangkok. Alerted by calls reporting a foreigner in a violent crisis, officers from the Khlong Tan station responded quickly.
At the scene, the Sergeant Jarut Yaemsuan, patrol team leader, was seriously injured after receiving several knife wounds. The officer was rushed to the police hospital. Shattered shop windows and bloodstains littered the area.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Frenchman, Adam Ba wearing a black t-shirt, attempted to flee. The police used their weapons, hitting him three times in the abdomen and thigh. With the help of locals, he was eventually subdued before being taken to the police hospital.
According to initial investigation findings, the man had first vandalised shops and threatened passers-by before attacking the police. The exact motivations for his behaviour remain to be determined.
