The manager of the Samui Exotic Park on the island of Koh Samui claims to have received threatening messages after displaying a “Free Palestine” sign, including a message from an Israeli tourist.
The « Samui Exotic Park » run by a Franco-Thai couple, located in the Mae Nam district (Soi 1) on Koh Samui, reported the incident on social media. The owner states that a man contacted her after seeing the Palestinian flag and the message displayed on the site.
According to her, the man first asked if the park was indeed flying a Palestinian flag. After confirmation, he allegedly made offensive remarks about the Palestinians and threatened to use violence against the population of Gaza.
The park manager explains that she installed the sign after being confronted with repeated misbehaviour from certain foreign visitors, including theft of food and entry into restricted areas.
In a post on social media, she stresses that the park welcomes tourists of all nationalities but requires respect for its rules. « This is Thailand », she wrote, adding that having paid for entry does not give the right to do as one pleases.
The owner further states that the park was subsequently targeted by a group of tourists of certain nationalities who posted numerous negative reviews on Google Maps. The Samui Exotic Park confirms it remains open and is prepared to face any further tensions.
For his part, her partner confirms the support of the local population:
« … look closely at all these idiots who think they are untouchable on a territory that is not theirs … there are 75 million Thais here in their own country! They will have to get down on one knee and it will come as a real shock to those who consider themselves superior to everyone … listening to them, they are ultra-powerful and unshakeable … », he wrote.
