Koh Samui: Tourist Boat Capsizes Near Koh Taen, Three People Rescued

This Sunday 16 August, a longtail boat carrying tourists capsized off Koh Samui in southern Thailand. The three people on board were quickly rescued.

This Sunday 16 August, a longtail boat carrying tourists capsized off Koh Samui, in southern Thailand. The three people on board were quickly rescued.

According to the provincial office of disaster prevention and mitigation of Surat Thani, the accident occurred around 3pm near Laem Sai cape, in the village of Ko Taen, in the sub-district of Taling Ngam, at Koh Samui.

On board were two foreign tourists and the pilot. All were rescued uninjured and taken safely to Ban Thong Krut, in the same sub-district.

While the rescue operations were successfully carried out, the boat has not yet been refloated. Initial investigations indicate that a sudden strong gust of wind was the cause of the capsizing.
