A Western tourist vehemently confronted the staff and Thai customers in a Bangkok bar. Believing he had been overcharged by 540 baht, he ultimately got his way.

A video published on 29 September 2026 shows a tense scene in a Bangkok establishment, Jack’s Bar. This venue, known for its low-priced beers and mixed clientele of expats and tourists, is located along the Chao Phraya. In the scene, a bearded man in a white t-shirt, clearly a Western tourist, loses his temper with the staff and several Thai customers. According to him, he was overcharged by 540 baht (approximately 14 euros) on his bill.

The footage captures raised voices, sharp gestures and scuffles. Several people intervene in the dispute. In the end, the managers refund the money before ejecting him by force.

In the comments, most people support the tourist, highlighting the principle:

“540 baht represents a day’s wage for some." ... "This isn’t the first time they’ve done this to customers.”

Others criticise his attitude and advise letting it go for such a modest amount or calling the Tourist Police directly, to avoid escalation against a group of locals.

Bill disputes remain common in the tourist areas of Bangkok, particularly along the river. Tourists are advised to contact the Tourist Police in case of a dispute.
