Thai police have arrested a 54-year-old Israeli man and a Thai woman in a Bangkok condominium after discovering methamphetamine and evidence of an irregular stay of more than five years.
Officers from the metropolitan police brigade and immigration agents carried out the arrest on 23 October of Tomer, a 54-year-old Israeli national, and Phatchanok, 44, in an apartment in the Huai Khwang district of Bangkok.
The man is charged with joint possession of category 1 narcotics without authorisation, irregular stay (overstay) of 2,095 days and refusal to submit to a drug test. The woman is accused of possession and illegal use of the same substance. Both have denied the allegations.

Investigators seized 15 grams of crystal meth, fifty empty sachets, an electronic scale, a cake tray suspected of being laced and a mobile phone. Sex videos recorded without the victims’ knowledge are also said to have been found on the device.
According to information gathered by the police, Tomer is said to have used a dating app to invite women to his apartment, offer them a cake containing illicit substances, then film the sexual encounters without their knowledge for the purpose of blackmail.

During his arrest, the Israeli is said to have claimed protection at the highest levels of the Thai authorities and threatened to have the entire police team transferred.

The investigation was opened following a report received via the hotline. Inquiries are continuing, particularly into the origin of the videos, the composition of the cake and the threats made against the officers.
