Thai police are investigating a group of Nigerian women who entered on student or tourist visas to engage in clandestine prostitution on tourist islands via messaging apps.
Investigators from the police in Bo Phut and immigration in Surat Thani province are conducting a thorough investigation after discovering a network of young Nigerian women. They use student or tourist visas to infiltrate popular tourist spots such as Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Phuket and Pattaya.

They offer sexual services to clients, mainly foreign tourists, via chat and messaging apps. Four of them have already been arrested and are under examination. The authorities suspect local accomplices who assist them and profit from this illegal activity.

The suspects do not carry their passports, claiming to have left them in Bangkok. Some documents are expired, and the money earned is sent to Nigeria, their country of origin.
The investigation continues to determine the extent of the network and identify any other members.
