A fire broke out early this Thursday on electrical lines at the Mae Nam crossroads in Koh Samui. Starting from the communication cables, the blaze quickly spread to a wooden house housing an Austrian restaurant, before being brought under control by the firefighters.
This Thursday (9 April 2026), at around 1:10 a.m., a fire started on electrical lines and communication cables at the crossroads in the highly touristic Soi 4 area of Mae Nam, in Koh Samui.
The flames very quickly spread to a neighbouring wooden house and its ground floor, which housed a restaurant. Local residents immediately sprang into action, providing assistance with their own resources.

Thanks to the swift intervention of the Koh Samui firefighters and the support of local residents, the fire was brought under control within a limited area by 1:40 a.m..
The rescue teams praised the decisive action of the villagers and private water tankers, which helped contain the initial flames and refill the fire engines with water.
