Ko Phangan police target noise pollution from modified exhausts: 15 motorcyclists fined, forced to replace them immediately with standard models.
As part of a targeted operation against modified exhausts, Ko Phangan police in Surat Thani province intercepted 15 two-wheelers emitting excessive noise.
Under the direction of Police Colonel Apichat Chansamret, head of the Ko Phangan police station, Lieutenant Colonel Chaiyut Kongkhao, deputy in charge of prevention, and Lieutenant Apiphat Petchrak, head of the patrol, the road and motorcycle surveillance teams were mobilised.
These modified exhausts generate significant noise pollution, disturbing the peace of residents and tourists while posing risks to road safety.
The offenders were immediately fined, ordered to replace their exhausts with approved models and to present valid registration documents.
