Surat Thani authorities have frozen seven plots belonging to six companies convicted by the courts for concealing foreign owners.
On 12 June, Manukrit Thongkhochok, director of the land services of Surat Thani province, announced the enforcement of nine judgments handed down on 25 May by the Koh Samui court. Seven people were convicted for making false declarations in official documents to allow foreigners to illegally own land.
Following these decisions, the land administration has placed seven plots under sequestration, totalling two rai (approximately 0.3 hectares), held by six companies. These properties are now subject to a procedure under article 111 of the land code, which requires their sale within a period of 180 days to one year.
Meanwhile, the Koh Phangan services have identified 45 other companies suspected of acting as nominees for foreigners. They hold 61 plots representing approximately 83 rai, with an estimated value of more than 350 million baht. Similar investigations have also been opened in the Surat Thani district concerning 28 additional companies.
