A house belonging to an expat was completely destroyed by a fire in Bang Po, on Koh Samui, this 31 July. The flames were brought under control at 4:30pm with no injuries.
A violent fire broke out this Friday 31 July 2026 in a residential house located in the Bang Po Soi 2 neighbourhood, on the island of Koh Samui.
The Koh Samui police station quickly alerted the public via its social media channels, asking residents to avoid the area and leave the way clear for emergency vehicles. The firefighters, supported by rescue teams, intervened in force to contain the blaze.

According to local information and residents' accounts, only the wooden frame of the house remained, completely reduced to ashes. Several comments on social media mention an expat owner, although the authorities have not yet officially confirmed his identity.
“At 4:30pm, we received a report from the firefighters indicating that the fire had been brought under control in a limited area. The situation is being checked for safety. No injuries have been reported. Thank you to all the units that acted with determination and to the residents of Koh Samui who cleared the way for the fire engines and emergency vehicles,” the local police stated early in the evening.
The authorities are now calling on people to stay away from the area until the end of the securing operations. No injuries have been reported and the investigation into the exact causes of the fire continues.
