A 12-year-old American girl with autism has disappeared overnight from her accommodation in Bangkok's Thong Lor district. Searches have been ongoing for more than 42 hours.
Thai authorities have issued an alert following the sudden disappearance of a 12-year-old American girl with autism. According to CCTV footage, the child left her accommodation alone around 1:30 a.m. She has no mobile phone, no identification, no means of payment, only a small amount of cash.
A new CCTV image has been released by the police. It shows the girl near the Soi Sukhumvit 49, shortly before 2 a.m. on 5 August, just after she left the Thong Lor area. This trail matches the timeline established by investigators.
The child's mother, Luna Young, has shared the information provided by the police and called on residents of Thong Lor, Sukhumvit 49 and Phrom Phong to be vigilant. Places that may have attracted the girl include parks, convenience stores, BTS and MRT stations, as well as building shelters and lobbies.
Authorities remind people of the guidelines to follow if the child is found: approach calmly, reassure her by telling her she is not at fault, and do not frighten her.
Any useful information must be passed on to the police without delay.
