A group of seven already intoxicated customers caused a physical altercation at the Roadhouse restaurant in Thong Nai Pan Noi on Koh Phangan. The Italian owner plans to file a complaint.
According to the detailed testimony published by Andrea Risi, Italian owner of the Roadhouse (formerly Valentino) in Thong Nai Pan Noi, a group of seven customers described as Franco-Israeli arrived that evening already visibly intoxicated. The incident began when they demanded to sit at a small table normally intended for a maximum of five people, refusing the larger table offered to them.
Faced with their insistence and the threat to leave, the restaurateur simply invited them to do so. Some members of the group then began insulting him in French. Understanding the language perfectly, Andrea Risi responded verbally.
The situation quickly escalated. The man in the green shirt physically assaulted him twice, placing his hands on him, while the staff stepped in, as clearly shown in the surveillance video.
Moments later, there was a second physical confrontation just outside the restaurant. The owner immediately called the police.
In the hours that followed, the Roadhouse received negative reviews containing false allegations, notably the accusation of having refused entry the previous day because of a client’s religious confession. Andrea Risi states he was not even present that day, as he was ill. He recalls that Israeli customers represent a significant part of his clientele and have always been welcome.
This moment of tension is part of a series of incidents shaking the archipelago in recent weeks, multiplying altercations and aggressive behaviour involving foreign tourists. The restaurateur announced that he would file an official complaint for physical assault as early as tomorrow.
