An Israeli national was murdered on Wednesday evening on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand. The main motive under examination is criminal, although the ideological hypothesis has not been ruled out.

An Israeli man was killed on Wednesday evening (30 September 2026) on the island of Koh Phangan, in southern Thailand. According to Ynet, the victim had arrived in Thailand about three months ago with the intention of settling on the island. She held Israeli, Russian and French nationalities and had not used her Israeli passport to enter the country. Her identity has not been made public and her body has undergone an autopsy. The circumstances of the murder remain unclear but investigators’ main suspicion centres on a criminal motive rather than a nationalist one. The possibility of an ideologically motivated crime is nevertheless also being examined.

Local sources indicate the attack took place in Tha Sadet. The alleged perpetrator, a French national (possibly Franco-Israeli), has been detained by the authorities.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the embassy in Bangkok and the assistance service for Israelis in distress are following the case and are in contact with the family.
