The Thai League 3 club has praised the exceptional presence of 1,300 fans at Pru Na Muang Stadium. A fine display of island unity despite the sporting disappointment.

The official account of Samui United has published a warm message of thanks addressed to its supporters. No fewer than 1,300 islanders made their way to Pru Na Muang Stadium (Koh Samui International Municipal Stadium) to support the local team for 90 minutes. Samui United lost 2-1 to Phuket Andaman.

“1,300 voices. One island. One team. Thank you for supporting us.” … “Even if the match result was not what we had hoped for, every shout, every encouragement from the stands means a great deal to us” … “See you at the next match, we fight together!”, the club declared.

Recently promoted to Thai League 3 (Southern group), Samui United proudly represents the entire island of Koh Samui. At the start of the 2026/2027 season, the team has shown a strong campaign with two victories (2-0 against Ranong United and 1-0 against Yala City) before this defeat. It now has 6 points and sits in 2nd place in the table. The opening goal was scored by Anglo-Nigerian Emmanuel Sonupe.

Among the club’s best-known players are former Thai international Mika Chunuonsee (defender and club vice-president), Welsh midfielder Tommy O’Sullivan, Nigerian striker Michael Aliu and Brazilian Lucas Massaro.

This record attendance confirms that Samui United is far more than a football team: it is the symbol of unity among the island’s residents.
