Samui United’s Islanders snatched a precious 0-1 victory on Chumphon United’s pitch during the 7th matchday of Thai League 3.
After a laborious first half without goals (0-0 at half-time), the men of Koh Samui found the breakthrough in the second period. The winning goal came in the 81st minute, allowing the Islanders to leave with the three points.
However, a club specialist had expressed his concern at half-time:
« Very disappointing again in the first half of a game everyone thought we were going to win easily. We’ve been second best again and our league position isn’t a true reflection of our performances so far in my view, going to have to improve a lot from here. Hope they prove me wrong. »
A few minutes later, the same observer noted: « We just scored, so they’re proving me wrong. »
This away victory allows Samui United to consolidate their position as leaders of the Southern Group with 15 points after 7 matches (5 wins, 2 defeats). The Islanders remain ahead of PSU Surat Thani City (12 points) and Nakhon Si United (11 points).
The men of Koh Samui return to the path of victory after the home defeat against Nakhonsi United the previous week. Next appointment at home against Muang Trang United.
