The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has sent a convoy of four generator vehicles totalling 2,300 kW to Koh Samui island to ensure supply security during the peak tourist season from March to May.
The departure ceremony took place at the PEA Region 3 office in Lopburi. Thanatkit Nuam-in, assistant to the governor of PEA Region 3, and Santhaprawet Pannga, director of operations and maintenance, presided over the event.

These generators are intended to support the electrical grid of Koh Samui, a major tourist destination in Surat Thani province, where electricity demand surges during the peak season.

The PEA currently supplies electricity to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao via four submarine cable circuits, as well as BESS battery systems and generators with a combined capacity of around 170 megawatts. However, demand could reach 190 megawatts at the height of the tourist season.

Before departure, Thanatkit Nuam-in inspected the vehicles and reminded the teams of the importance of safety and strict adherence to procedures during the journey from Surat Thani.
