The Thai government has halved the maximum visa-free stay granted to tourists from more than fifty countries, reducing it from sixty to thirty days.
An announcement published on 31 August 2026 in the Official Journal (Royal Gazette) has formalised this measure. The Ministry of the Interior has published a text entitled โDetermination of the list of countries and territories whose holders of passports or travel documents may enter the kingdom temporarily for tourism without a visa and stay for a period not exceeding thirty daysโ.

will be able to stay up to thirty days without a visa for tourist purposes. Passport holders from the Seychelles and Mauritius will also benefit from an exemption, but limited to fifteen days.
These new rules will come into force fifteen days after their publication in the Official Journal.
