Koh Tao: Man Kills Tattoo Shop Partner Over Money Dispute

A tattoo-parlour dispute on Koh Tao turned fatal when a man stabbed his associate to death in public over a profit dispute, then was quickly arrested while trying to flee the island.

A dispute over a tattoo parlour turned deadly on 3 September in Koh Tao, in front of tourists and locals.

On 3 September 2026, around 9am, Koh Tao police were called to a knife fight in front of a rice-shop restaurant, located near the « Mae Haad Pier » in moo 2.

At the scene, officers found significant traces of blood. The victim, Sorchai, 63, was rushed to Koh Tao hospital, where he died. He had injuries to the neck, shoulder and under the chest.

The suspect, Jirasak, known as Golf, 40, was his associate in a tattoo parlour. According to the police and CCTV footage, he approached him while he was seated with his back turned, grabbed a knife from the restaurant and stabbed him three times before calmly walking away. The victim collapsed in the street.

Golf then tried to leave the island on the Lomphraya ferry to Chumphon. He was arrested shortly after. He admitted the facts, citing a grudge over the sharing of profits from the shop. The police charged him with murder.

The images show the attacker approaching the seated victim, striking her in the neck, shoulder, and chest, then watching her collapse before walking away, while bystanders tried to help and others fled.
