The influencer Igho Ubiribo, known as Tiny, died of a pulmonary embolism following a cosmetic procedure performed in Thailand, according to the findings of a British coroner.
The man, also known online under the pseudonyms Denisi and Ego, had around 185,000 Instagram followers. He regularly shared the luxuries of his daily life and was married to Zimbabwean stylist and socialite Danielle Simba Allen. He maintained a long-standing friendship with Afrobeats star Davido.
His death was announced on 6 March. Initial reports suggested a heart attack in the Philippines. However, the investigation in London has since established a different version of events:
According to the findings delivered by coroner Jean Harkin at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court, Igho Ubiribo received injections containing 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at an unidentified clinic in Bangkok. While on holiday with his wife, he then visited a massage parlour where he suffered chest pains before losing consciousness twice.
Taken to Sukhumvit Hospital, he was initially able to answer the doctors’ questions. His wife reported the injections, but he lost consciousness before a scan could be carried out. The medical staff diagnosed a pulmonary embolism and placed him in intensive care. He died in the early hours of 6 March despite resuscitation attempts.
The autopsy carried out in the United Kingdom confirmed the presence in his lungs of substances matching those used during the procedure. The coroner concluded that the cosmetic treatment inserted into his penis had caused the fatal embolism.
Shortly after the tragedy, Davido paid tribute to his friend on Instagram.
