Two days after the filmed brawl at Pookies bar, the victim and attacker reconciled on 31 August according to the manager.
In the night of 29 August 2026, around 2am, an altercation broke out at the Pookies bar, located in Plai Laem in the tambon of Bo Phut on Koh Samui. Surveillance footage widely shared shows a Dutch expat striking a Thai woman several times, causing her to fall to the ground. The man then grabs a metal stool before bystanders intervene. The victim was examined at Koh Samui hospital, where a contusion to the left cheekbone was noted. She filed a complaint, but the video’s circulation sparked strong outrage on social media, with numerous calls for sanctions against the attacker.

According to a statement issued by the owner of the establishment, who also presents herself as the victim’s representative, the authorities quickly summoned both parties. Mediation took place and an amicable agreement was reached by the afternoon of 31 August 2026.
« Following the altercation that occurred on 29 August 2026 at Pookies bar in Plai Laem, the authorities summoned the victim and the other party for mediation. They reached a full agreement on the afternoon of 31 August. As the victim’s representative and owner of the premises, I ask the media to stop sharing or publishing content that harms the victim, the other party or the police by wrongly claiming that the investigation is not progressing. The other party has acknowledged the facts, offered apologies and they have become good friends again as before. Thanks to this friendship that allowed everything to end peacefully. », the manager posted on social media.
The owner insists that inaccurate information stop circulating, particularly claims accusing the police of being slow. The two parties have resumed friendly relations after the apologies. This amicable outcome contrasts with the initial outcry sparked by the footage.
