A Russian expat faced aggressive and threatening behaviour at Pantip Market on Koh Phangan after warning a motorcyclist about the excessive noise from his modified exhaust.
On Sunday 21, Lola Vas, a Russian expat living on the island of Koh Phangan, experienced a worrying incident at “Pantip Market”. While she was in the food court area, she confronted a man about the extremely loud noise from his modified exhaust on his large motorbike.
According to her account, the man rode directly into the food court area with his motorbike. The noise drew everyone’s attention. Lola Vas then explained to him that this type of modification caused significant nuisance to the other people present. The man then began insulting her and adopting a rude attitude.
When she started filming the scene with her phone, the man approached and threw water over her. He then came back towards her claiming he wanted to apologise, but still maintained a threatening and aggressive attitude. He was holding a large plate of hot food ready to be thrown in his hands.
“I didn’t feel safe. I had to move away quickly while asking him not to approach”, she recounted, specifying that she felt real fear of a potential physical assault.
